Various Artists – An Anthology of Noise & Electronic Music Vol. 5

Various Artists

2CD – Sub Rosa
Even if the euphoric nomadic and post-structuralist philosophy of Deleuze and Guattari inspire the Sub Rosa label, it is still keen on anthologies like this fifth one, dedicated to noise and electronica. This is only to underscore that it is not possible nowadays to publish such a work, only relating to music and historio-critical theories. The musical chronology spans from 1920 till now. There are way too many authors and works to consider, too many plateaus to host interconnections that are not really reducible to the interesting schemes in the booklet. Nevertheless it is the passion, the density and the assimilation of the topics that dominate over intrinsic coherence. From the audio “abuse” of Charlemagne Palestine and Pere Ubu, the noise of Ground Zero and Masonna, to the pre click’n’glitch abstractions of François-Bernard Mâche.
