Yaco – Peliculas Y Una Cancion

Yaco

CD – Sudamericaelectronica
Sensitive and suspended atmospheres are unravelled in layers of sound made vivid by the juxtaposition of many textures, including field recording, deaf repetitions and clicks, hinting at spurious melodies and unexpected outcomes. Sound snippets of everyday lives are reassembled by Yaco Argentina (Santiago Peresón), comfortably inhabiting a concrete-electroacoustic space, and thanks to fluent editing this work is both enjoyable and well articulated. The story – despite the revival and emptiness – is an unstoppable one: only the break imposed by the fourteen tracks defines abstract divisions. The tracks explore the idea of a world reduced to a musical construct or ideally extrapolated – as in this case – through further adjustments by sound “cells”, derived in turn from the ‘cut and paste’ of several films (from the ‘Festival Internacional de Cine Independiente’ of Buenos Aires). Minimal auditive units reprogrammed through painstaking work are published with the intention of taking destructured forms and content from one medium to another.
