Tachyonic Antitelephone, The Answer Comes Before The Question

Tachyonic-Antitelephone

History is full of scientists and thinkers whose minds have proven to be capable of projecting beyond the reality around them, coining reasoning and predictions whose scientific demonstrations practices, have never been reached. Thus was born the concept of conceptual experiment to describe an experiment that is not intended to (or can not for the limits of technology or technique) to achieve practically, but that is only imagined: his results are not measured on the basis of an experiment performed in laboratory, but theoretically calculated in accordance with the laws of physics. The Tachyonic Antitelephone is the realization of a thought experiment, a device of theoretical physics which, thanks to tachyons, hypothetical particles having a speed exceeding that of light, could be used to send signals to our past. The visual artist Sinead McDonald has decided to implement a receiver tachyonic antitelephone and to bring this idea to the Science Hack Day in Dublin, collecting enthusiast and unexpected collaboration of engineers and physicists who have allowed her to present the work to Time Travel Live, an event held in London in 2013 by Hack Circus. A 50s valve radio, a flatbed scanner, an old wooden crate, buttons, LEDs and knobs … just scan your hand and give way to print the message. The project aims to stimulate reflection on the eventual possibility that our future self could send back messages of danger, communications or advice to keep us away from mistakes and regrets. The Tachyonic Antitelephone opens the questions of free will, choice and destiny … we can change who we were, or what we may become? Benedetta
