Map-o-matix

If the practices of mapping represent a formalization of visual knowledge, which is able to synthesize abstract data such as the description of an area, in a publicly accessible form, less obvious are their construction processes. Historically passed from the hands of designers specialists to anyone who could handle a vector graphics program, geographic data represent the ultimate tool to develop the abstraction in a shared space. Map-o-matix of Yves Degoyon, Sergio Moreno, Jaume Nualart and other members of the Spanish collective Hackitectura, is a project that promises to give back to the community the ability to process geographic data in free mode and collaborative. As yet no complete tool allows you to directly experience the web on its key features such as the inclusion of specific nodes and relations between them on a map extensible and modifiable by many hands. In fact, the application of this tool would be even more evolved, ie those to facilitate the creation of maps 'tactics' that can highlight relationships between the structures of power, or social infrastructure at all levels.
