Lost Format Preservation Society

On the main road of the standard formats for recording data (average of a Lesser God), there are many who, over time, until slumped to its margin, prematurely ending their task. The excellent Dead Media Project by Bruce Sterling, unfortunately abandoned a few years later, has given way to several other attempts, including the impromptu Lost Format Preservation Society . This group of 'archaeologists' of the data storage medium is busy putting together a roundup (in the proper sense, given that the site scrolls horizontally) of descriptions and essential silhouette which summarizes very well a historical evolutionary need to understand the technologies currently available. Founded in 2000 (under the guise of a contribution to number 57 of the magazine editorial design Emigre), the 'now' is open to external contributions that can be sent by email with a picture and the technical specifications.
