ICMC International Computer Music Conference 2005

is in progress all'Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona 's International Computer Music Conference 2005 entitled 'Free Music'. What is the ISEA of electronic music, held once a year and involves, according to the organizing committee, a very wide range of important investigators tracing a temporary state of the art electronic music composition. Although the experimenters outside the institutional bureaucracies are cut off (useful exception was made in Berlin in 2000 with the most interesting new recruits local, with no academic pedigree, involved in concerts), the richness and variety of the projects presented embrace a most extensive landscape, from the granular synthesis software robot performers, from a myriad of techniques for analyzing the sound to visual music, etc.. etc.. The main theme of the event (Free Music), wants to put on the agenda the restore priority in ensuring freedom of access to music, sounds, culture and knowledge, throwing down the gauntlet to multinational exploitation of intellectual property and indefinite designing alternative scenarios, felt as urgent by the wider community. In this sense the project has been chosen to give the conference is the Freesound Project, an online community that supports the free exchange of sounds licensed under the Creative Commons "Sampling +" between artists, musicians and researchers.
