Silophone, musical instrument architecture.

The different awareness of the sounds of the architecture, especially those that costitiscono examples of industrial architecture, has grown just at the stage, still in progress, post-industrial, during which it is possible to rethink the use of these structures in the light of the different socio-cultural context in which they found themselves. The duo [The User] , no new experiments in unusual, they are developing for some time a project that revolves around a former silos for grain collection, located in the port of Montreal. It's called Silophone (Xylophone) and takes advantage of this unique architecture to produce sounds with echoes and reverberations unheard. At the moment you can send your own sounds via phone or internet, and these, after being 'played' in the building, are recorded and transmitted back to the sender, as well as being consumed by an external sound installation, and you can even listen to the sounds live via streaming. In the site are stored thousands of sounds sent over the network, and shows also the 'sonic observatory', a space leased to a few hundred meters from Silo # 5, where it is possible to experience live the glare of his own voice. The architecture, in this case becomes acoustic instrument with a multitude of musicians, real or improvised, which, stretching their ribs up to the very high sound concrete cylinder through the global communication networks.
