Furninja, mechanical chimera.

After PainStation and LegShocker , Furninja Fur is a project of the group, consisting of Roman Kirschner, Tilman Reiff and Volker Morawe, students of the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne that deal with the creation of 'art entertainment interfaces'. Furnija is a 'chimera' controlled remotely. In the description of the project are listed in fact the mythical origins of the chimera: the father Typhon was a giant with a hundred heads, who wept drops of poison from his eyes, while his mother, Echidna, is half woman and half snake. The fruit of this union is the chimera, also 'monster it by the complex appearance of the "human el' animal Furninja and it is a modern version, as it looks like a monster with many heads-represented in this case by the blades of the chainsaw – governed by the artists, and users in general, through special remote controls. The operation of the chimera gives rise to an "action from" violent appearance, halfway between a performance and a race between Remote-controlled machinery. The place d 'action in this case is strongly bounded. In GambaGarage in Cologne, where fur has presented for the first time this project at the International Furniture Fair, the set d 'action consisted of a fenced area where they were chairs and other furniture and Furninja, driven distance, broke and broken boxes and chairs in space. This work is in the spirit of full fur group, whose goal is to create an interface-type alternative to the common model, and which provides a visual navigation prevalentemenete, a manual control and, in fact, a massive isolation of the individual user . Fur attempts to develop interfaces that incorporate an implication of multiple dimensions (not only of sight, then) and more people. Angela Serino
