It only comes in black and white now, but they’ll make it soon in color…I felt so old and out of it with this young whiz guy right there who helped invent it.”

24.01.03 Query by Humming: hum to find your favorite song.
The German Fraunhofer Institute announced in its publication online the development of a melodic recognition software that can perform the so-called 'Query by Humming'. This technology consists in the query a database of melodies through an input derived from the hum of the user, so that it can submit the data in its possession about the track in a more natural way. The product is available these days at MIDEM in Cannes with discrete rows of onlookers waiting to try it. Empirical tests have already given good results, displaying, among other things, the identification of the peaks of highs and lows, indicating to the tune where the melody derails. According to the researchers of the institute more than hard for retailers to the product could affect musicians, able to hum the song structure that came to mind, and obtaining real-time structure of the notes.
