09.10.02 III Global Congress on Community Networking.
From 7 to 12 October 2002 in Montreal (Canada), takes place the III Global Congress on Community Networking , with the theme 'Empowering communities: Innovation, Proposal, Action'. The Congress aims to stimulate the development of information society at the global level, creating a network among the participating countries. The GlobalCN was founded in Barcelona in November 2000, the year in which they took part in the Congress 700 delegates from various public and private institutions in the participating countries. The next GlobalCN 2001 took place in Buenos Aires, seeking to carry forward the process of international coordination among the various member countries, in parallel with the activities of the G8 and the United Nations. The Congress this year has as its objective the creation of a common platform online that can facilitate coordination between Member States, in view of ' the UN World Summit on the Information Society to be held in 2003 and 2005. The platform, in line with the concept of networking, will enable the countries participating in the Congress to keep in touch via the web, through a multilingual site interactive, usable and up to date.
