CD – Ad Noiseam

Combining electronic music and classical instruments is a trend that has been consolidated by international avant-garde movements. Within this field Stavros Gasparatos is well known for his skill in subtly balancing the two elements. His work has been particularly recognized by Ad Noiseam, a label that appreciates both conceptual approaches (including those that lean towards abstraction) and unconventional harmonic loops. In this case the loops are delicate and full of variations and melodic suggestions. Seven was originally born as a revamped version of a dance show soundtrack, a musical choreography deep and rich in details that was rewritten and released on CD and digital. Very successful both in his native land and abroad, Gasparatos is also a cinema and theatre music composer. These influences often inform his more experimental works resulting in ‘conversational’ musical structures. The narration here is centered on the seven deadly sins and is characterized by solid tones. The music has been developed with great skill and is never ordinary, giving life to a ‘story’ that is vague and indirect but nevertheless intriguing. Written and performed by Gasparatos and featuring four musicians, Seven stands out as a seductive and powerful work that suggests a sumptuous imagination and is highly involving for the listener, remaining both enigmatic and elegant.
