13.05.03 user_mode, emotions of interaction.

Starting on May 9 and ending on May 11, the Tate Gallery in London will host user_mode = emotion + intuition in art + design, an international symposium which will discuss the aspects of the users’ emotional involvement in their interaction with the new media. Sought for by designers and artists and confusing the theoreticians, these emotions are still unknown, since they, unlike the broadcasting model, depend on choices made by the users themselves, making necessary to use a different form of message. This subject will be debated by many renowned experts, who will be grouped in homogeneous sessions. The schedule features, among other things, ‘Poetics and Spectacle’, with Gary Hill, Gordana Novakovic and Masaki Fujihata, ‘Data Aesthetics: extending the palette’, with David Ross, a href=”../nnews/Illinguaggiodeinuovimedia.htm” target=”NEW”>Lev Manovich , Joshua Davis and Jonah Brucker-Cohen, ‘Immersion: the individual and the social subject’ con Sara Diamond, Simon Biggs, Golan Levin, Susan Collins and Selectparks and ‘Social Ecologies: learning, playing, belonging’ with Irene McAra-McWilliam, Natalie Bookchin, Jacqueline Stevens, e FoAM and Tobi Schneidler. The terse website, besides offering biographies and links related to the participants, plays, in its navigation, with ‘pop ups’ containing book excerpts where the words corresponding to the selectable menu options are highlighted. Also scheduled is the The RemoteHome experiment, with two environments, one in London and one in Stockholm, physically interacting.
