Sometimes the online world reveals unsuspected parallel dimensions. This is an unknown restyle of Neural independently (and secretly as we never knew about it) made by NY-based Motion and Graphic Designer, Clarke Blackham. Very nicely made, perhaps only a bit glossier for the magazine’s line, it testifies once more how even your most familiar outcomes can have another life somewhere else.
CD – Editions Mego/Family Affair
Composed, recorded and mixed between December 2006 and March 2007 by Peter Rehberg – Sunn O))) and Stephen O’Malley, the first impressions of this project, published by Mego, are of obscure and disquieting structures (as much as the accompanying artwork), with poetic electronic sounds, modulated by oscillators and iterated, embracing and almost ‘scenic’ effects, continuing the collaborative path between these two artists which began with a theater production directed by Gisèle Vienne and Dennis Cooper. It’s a marriage that goes far beyond the commonplace of the unusual union of ‘computer music’ and ‘black metal’, with a convincing sound quality and a timeless attitude that, in every one of the four tracks (totalling more than 73 minutes), is deeply involving and carries us to a gloomy and ecstatic parallel dimension.
