A poster for the defense of personal freedoms ( In defense of freedom ) ten-point agreement was signed at the National Press Club in Washington for more than 150 organizations (including Amnesty International, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, the Center for Digital Democracy and the Electronic Privacy Information Center), 300 law professors and 40 computer scientists (including Simson Garfinkel and John Gillmore). In the most significant passages reads: "6. We must resist the temptation to approve bills in the mistaken belief that anything that can be called anti-terrorist will necessarily provide greater security. 8. Affirm the right of peaceful dissent, now protected by the First Amendment, so never at risk. 9. applaud our political leaders who have the courage to recognize that our freedoms should not be restricted.
