CD – Buh

This CD is a limited edition reissue of only 300 copies and is part of the Sounds Essentials Collection issued by Buh Records. The project aims to preserve some fundamental works of Peruvian avant-garde music through regular publishing on the label. This release was made possible thanks to the support of ATA (Advanced Technology Andina) and is a particularly worthy and interesting work by Arturo Ruiz Del Pozo – one dense with suggestive passages and a modern attitude. The consistency of the compositional structures is absolutely unique and the listening is involved, exuding quality and experimentalism. Music For Native Peruvian Instruments And Magnetophonic Tape was recorded at the Royal College Of Music of The University of London in the Electronic Music Studio, between 1976 and 1978. At this time it was fairly usual to see musicians from solo performers to full symphony orchestras experimenting with new textures, annexing traditional influences and exploring the combinatorial possibilities of magnetic tape. Arturo Ruiz del Pozo composed each of the tracks as independent patterns with different aural characteristics, investigating the peculiarities of each instrument involved. Alternating melodic and harmonic sequences, spatial environments and organic textures combine to form a rarefied and free-form approach. The first edition of Composition Nativa was published on cassette in 1984 and the current edition adds two bonus tracks and seven works of concrete music.
