I said that once some man had been calling me a lot wanting to give me one, but that I’d never called him back or something, and then the kid looked up and said, ‘Yeah, that was me. I’m Steve Jobs.’ And he looked so young, like a college guy. And he told me that he would still send me one now. And then he gave me a lesson on drawing with it. It only comes in black and white now, but they’ll make it soon in color…I felt so old and out of it with this young whiz guy right there who helped invent it.”

Barbara Lattanzi, already known for his experiments with film and its possible de-structuring with different sequencing software ( see 'You are late,' Nosferatu in pixels ) has just made available online Surface Tension: Applied Memory Mutation Software , a program free software for PC and Mac that allows you to process video files with quicktime techniques 'memory-shifting', ie in a non-linear manipulating the material contained in the video itself. Ideal with non edited, identifies possible short circuits, and allows you to overlay text blurring individual frames in an interactive manner. The concepts that underlie the different features contained inspired by the experiments of the seventies combined with the practices of 'tactical video' nineties, translating into some of the kinematic structures algorithms used in some films of Hollis Frampton, to which the work is dedicated.
