It only comes in black and white now, but they’ll make it soon in color…I felt so old and out of it with this young whiz guy right there who helped invent it.”

Just as Martin Creed won the Turner Prize of 20,000 English pounds for a work consisting of an empty room with the lights that turn on and off, a job from the much larger is available to anyone in the heart of Berlin. Powered by the CCC (Chaos Computer Club) Blinkenlights is made up of 144 lights placed outside the rooms on the same number for the past eight floors of the 'Haus der Lehrers', an old palace used in the past by the government of East Germany, which overlooks the central Alexanderplatz . Through the interafaccia on this website you can send your 'movie' that, if deemed interesting enough, is shown repeatedly throughout the day, alternating with lots of tennis, publicly playable for a short time, through mobile phones. With more than ten thousand daily visits, the work is also visible from the nearest metro station, and with constant improvements will be active until at least February 2002.
