09:08:01 EFF defends anonymity.
In an escalation of lawsuits concerning the defense of the rights of the citizen electronic, the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) has asked a California judge to be abandoned the request of the Pre-Paid Legal Services Inc. to obtain the real identity of some anonymous messages (all signed as 'John Doe') that would have discredited the same company on a Yahoo Group. The EFF aims to repeat the success in April, when together ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) managed to defend the anonymity of a user who criticized a company called 2TheMart.com. In that case, Judge Thomas Zilly ruled that an ISP can not be forced to reveal the identities of the participants in online discussions.
