08:05:01 Napster: acustic active fingerprinting.
The latest version of the Napster client (the 2.0 Beta 10) periodically scans the songs shared by the client and randomly chooses a few from which to extract an 'acoustic fingerprinting', a kind of 'fingerprint Sound' unique and unrepeatable, which it sends to the company server. This is to enrich a database that will drive after a filter system efficiency much more strongly than expected, based on the names of the songs. The system was fired from relatable, and for now the old versions of the client still work regularly.
