At the end of the seventies Sherrie Levine, performed as a work of art of the photos taken with other photos, taken in 1936 by Walker Evans, legendary American photographer who had taken a rural family (the Burroughs) during the period of recession. The respective shots were virtually indistinguishable. Today, emphasizing issues debated as the copyright and authenticity of the work, Michael Mandiberg has built a site with very high resolution scans (freely downloadable) pictures of Sherrie Levine and Walker Evans , classifying them as well as their work of art in its own right. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the copyright holder of the photo, has granted permission to the author without major problems already known for another work of art on the net in which he put on sale all the objects of his house, including the food in the refrigerator.
