Water Gongs, sounds that influence a water network.

The possibilities of technology to reflect some of its structures through integration with organic systems leads to a mingling of elements which show the respective dependence, and at the same time, the need for collaboration. Gongs Water is a sound installation consisting of seven small gong partially immersed in tubs of water, hydraulically connected to each other, and beaten by small robotic arms. The tiny waves generated by the vibration are projected onto the ceiling with lighting from below, creating a composition influenced by the animated sounds. But it must be remembered that all equipment share the limited water resources that provide visual communication. This, then, based on a collaboration between the different structures, which in this way also vary the respective roles aesthetic, since the amount of water determines the intensity of the reflected waves. Powered by David Birchfield, Kelly Phillips and David Lorig, the work reinforces the concept of network, this time alone, and interaction between a programmed environment and its organic components, in an exemplary and fruitful synergy.
