The hacktivist mobilization towards the Republican convention in New York is enhanced periodically announced initiatives such as Operation Urban Terrain and Bikes Against Bush , and tools that give the protesters the certainty of being isolated as little as possible, and to rely on a flow of 'mutual information that avoids sudden coups by anyone. One such tool is TXTmob , tested during the Democratic convention in Boston. It consists of a service that allows you to quickly share a text message with groups of other people who have voluntarily enrolled. The groups are generally categorized by themes, and the mechanism worked out great at the moment with isolated people at risk of arrest that were rapidly supported by hundreds of others. The service is produced by the Institute for Applied Autonomy (IAA), which has made available on the web for further testing and perfecting it in view of its expected peak usage at the end of the month.
