Catalogue, the ecommerce detournata.

Catalogue is another work of web art that puts to shame the paradigm of ecommerce websites. Produced by the New York Kate Armstrong, makes use of the typical interface and how to use an online sales site, complete with a banner advertising, brief descriptions of products and collection system of orders with the usual infamous 'cart'. The paradox is highlighted by the vacuous plausibility of indecipherable texts and images that make absolute the concept of commodity, real or imagined object whose sole purpose is to stress our desires. The act of buying and shopping throughout the design technique leaving stunned and disappointed, going to a simple and bulimic mechanism of fleeting gratification from holding an object. It blurs the boundaries between the act that simulates reality (the purchase) and the same reality detournata, which works on distorted coordinates. Catalogue has the merit to shift the focus on the everyday practices and relationships that exist in trade, playing on the floor of the absurd with an ease that drives, usefully, to reflect.
