I said that once some man had been calling me a lot wanting to give me one, but that I’d never called him back or something, and then the kid looked up and said, ‘Yeah, that was me. I’m Steve Jobs.’ And he looked so young, like a college guy. And he told me that he would still send me one now. And then he gave me a lesson on drawing with it. It only comes in black and white now, but they’ll make it soon in color…I felt so old and out of it with this young whiz guy right there who helped invent it.”

For three days from today held at Monash University in Melbourne (Australia), 2nd iteration , an international conference on generative systems in the electronic arts. The intent is to analyze the relationships between generative processes and practices that, in this artistic and creative forms and acquire characteristics well beyond those attributable to the simple sum of the individual components that constitute them. Among the actions planned as Katherine Hayles' The Ideology of Emergent Narrative: Exploring the Military-Entertainment Complex ', Jon McCormack and Alan Dorin' Art, Emergence and the Computational Sublime 'Christa Sommerer and Laurent + Mignonneau' Expanding Artificial Life to Art & Entertainment for Mobile Phones', as well as a presentation of the works of Troy Innocent.
