07/09/01 Music trading at record levels.
According to a recent study by Jupiter Media Metrix, a record 15 million people have downloaded music from the Internet this summer, exchanging in the month of August 3 billion songs. These figures exceed even the critical moment of the announced closure of Napster in February, when users of the former system of free trade were 13 million. The most commonly used are now KaZaA and Morpheus that collect 3 million users, while Aimster, AudioGalaxy, iMesh and BearShare will account for about one million each according to Nielsen. Battles unnecessary, therefore, those of the large record companies, carried out through their trade associations, such as the RIAA, what else have you got to sharpen our wits programmers and increase the need for free exchange among users.
