The FBI is already developing an improved version of Carnivore, called 'Enhanced Carnivore Project', where it is no option to enter a suspected virus on a machine capable of obtaining the encryption keys used by the user. This option is coded as 'Magic Lantern', and install software that makes the so-called 'keylogging', outlining everything that was typed on the keyboard. The program will be sent via email by a person of trust of the user. It would not be the first time that this type of technologies are being used. Last month when the FBI with the authority of a district judge would have penetrated in the office of Nicodemo Scarfo, installing a keylogging program, and then arrested him for his betting racket with the evidence so obtained. With Carnivore, however, procedures change, especially after the infamous 'Patriot Act' approved following the events of September 11.
