Carnivore is an art project in a network composed of two parts. On the one hand there is the Carnivore Server, an application that performs the 'packet-sniffing' (ie indicator data packets) in a specific area of a local network and routes the data streams over the Internet. The other part consists of an unlimited number of client applications that collect the flow and interpret it in a creative way. The project was inspired by the Carnivore software 'DCS1000', used by the FBI to carry out interceptions and online surveys, and nicknamed by the same workers 'Carnivore'. Developed by RSG, a collective of computer artist scattered in various cities, based on Linux technology and is released under the GNU Public License.
