Tenori-on , designed and built by Toshio Iwai at the Music & Sound Human Interface Group of the Technology Development Center of Yamaha an electronic musical instrument and with an attractive design object. Consists of a frame with built-in speakers is formed by an array of sixteen to sixteen switches that light up and touched it acoustically activated, generating a feedback light similar to that of a stone thrown into a pond, reflecting graphically the propagation of sound waves. In addition to different modes of operation, it should be noted as the extreme simplicity of design makes it a tool recognizable and usable immediately, thanks also to the duplication of LCD switch also on the back, thanks to which is implemented a 'transparency' execution of soft sounds that mirrored the movements of the performer towards the observer. Another mode of communication between different Tenori-on, finally, makes possible the collaborative development of songs, enriching an immediate approach and imaginative.
