I said that once some man had been calling me a lot wanting to give me one, but that I’d never called him back or something, and then the kid looked up and said, ‘Yeah, that was me. I’m Steve Jobs.’ And he looked so young, like a college guy. And he told me that he would still send me one now. And then he gave me a lesson on drawing with it. It only comes in black and white now, but they’ll make it soon in color…I felt so old and out of it with this young whiz guy right there who helped invent it.”

Shawn Brixey, Richard Rinehart, Jesse Rankin (programming), Steve Toh (modeling), are the makers of Chimera Obscura , a work of telerobotics accessible on the Internet, which takes inspiration from the nightmares of contemporary genetics, including the horrific eugenic fantasies and anxieties history. The work consists of a robot, controlled via a web page, which frames a complex maze, the result of magnification of a human fingerprint. Visitors can leave meme, that of 'media genes' that can serve other users to find a unique sequence to decode the maze. A collaborative participation, as unwieldy, who wants to reflect on the integration of technology with the discourse around what is organic and evolutionary.
