04/23/02 The Exchange Program, exchanging personality.
It started on April 20 The Exchange Program of the new project coordinated by Michael Mandiberg net French conceptual artist, which involves eight collaborators with whom you will exchange their 'identity' through a series of instructions on how to 'be' or interpret a performance of themselves, transforming their personality into characters and giving the same performance as a backdrop to everyday life. The artists involved in this project reformulation of identity are in Los Angeles and Toronto: Heather Cassils, Lauren Hartman, Sara Jordeno, Curt Lemeiux, Michael Mandiberg Nakaue Melanie, Amy Satterthwaite, and Haruko Tanaka. Each of them will occupy the characteristics of another including the name, space, friends, family, work and personal property letting everything flow in a more natural way. Outside the schemes, the performance is to be a pure experimentation, which goes beyond the traditional expectations of conflict and difficulty involved in this kind of initiatives. To simplify the task, however, each of them has created a set of information or instructions for the person who replaces him, some of which can be found on the project website, and in the end everyone will document his experience, gathered in a dvd publication in July. At the same time the Exchange Program, Mandiberg announced the launch of its' Essential Guide to Performing Michael Mandiberg ', a handbook for users and autobiography together experimental, usable on the same site that ranges from his' character traits' to' social behavior 'until the' physical presentation 'and the' friends'.
