The 'Music Genome Project' is a project of the Savage Beast Technologies aimed at identifying traits 'genetic' unique in the music, allowing the identification of the songs themselves to an immediate detection of similarities (via computer) that brings together those pertaining to the same taste / style. After an analysis of 15,000 songs by professional musicians, were extracted about 400 key features, including rhythm, lyrical content, and tools used. Originally developed to help web users to orient among the infinite offerings (technology already fired the 'Barnes & Noble' for its jazz catalog), now you think would help to identify potential new majors 'hit', as evidenced by a recent commission made by Universal Music Group (UMG). But according to its developers themselves the fundamental problem is that the tastes of the users often evolve in unpredictable ways, developing the software according to influences that overshadows.
