A SoaPOPera For Imacs is the installation of the duo formed by GH Hovagimyan and Peter Sinclair, who makes four independent pseudo Mac in a performance in its own right. Placed on a couch and two chairs, computers (called Fred, Kathy, Ralph and Princess) communicate using speech synthesis software ('text to speech') to 'talk' and voice recognition software to 'listen'. There are four topics in this synthetic conversation: Sex, Cars, Politics and sing songs. With the animation of a fleshy mouth at the center of the screen this performance represents the culture of the people as expressed by the media and inspired by movies, rock music and, of course, soap operas. The gaming functioning, however, represents both the creative short circuit that can be created among machines, is a working model of systems that interact autonomously, leaving to Dexterity programmers the level of realism and unpredictability implemented.
