Evolution 2002 is a festival of contemporary art and digital 'time-based' which takes place within the Leeds International Film Festival Leeds (UK). This year, the show includes a full program of short films and clips related to the techniques of digital production that intersect different cultures and modes of production. In the list you will find: Structuring The Image, a selection of experimental videos Austrian including 'R4' by Michaela Schwentner, used by the electronic band of the Radian, abstraction b / w / Colored [n: ja] of 'Rewind', and overlaps surreal Skot in 'Aus'; entire section ('A Beautiful Virus Inside The Machine') is then dedicated to Lillian Schwartz, who since the late sixties was experimenting with creating digital video through the computer tools in Bell Laboratories, in 'Audio Visuality: The Space Between Sound And Vision', instead we investigate the mingling of sound and image with guests, among others, Kim Cascone, founder of Silent Records, and Tom Betts of nullpointer.co.uk, and the same issues are demonstrated well in 'Synch Sound: Live Experimental Sound and Vision' with guests Richard Chartier, owner of 12K, and Powerbooks for Peace, an emerging group of VJs; Also important are filmed documents of Billy Klüver co.fondatore of the EAT (Experiments in Art and Technology) with a screening of his new film ('Art and Technology') which tells about his activities from the sixties to today; finally scheduled a screening of works of Steina and Woody Vasulka, Nam June Paik , and several other rare videos about art with light and power of the seventies.
