29.03.02 New Project of media-center in New York.
Eyebeam, a non-profit for the arts has announced that the pair of architects Elizabeth Diller and Ricardo Scofidio won the competition for the construction of a new institute for new media to be built in Chelsea, one of the districts of New York, where also lies the Dia Center for the Arts. The twelve-storey building designed concrete and glass building has a structure that resembles a gummy tape folded regularly. This 'tape' was thought to contain optical fibers, cables and pipelines that can operate all equipment used within, giving the whole building a strong identity. The plans will be free of columns, thanks to a sophisticated system of joints, and public spaces, private and will not be separated from each other but visible through the large transparent windows that will divide them.
