I said that once some man had been calling me a lot wanting to give me one, but that I’d never called him back or something, and then the kid looked up and said, ‘Yeah, that was me. I’m Steve Jobs.’ And he looked so young, like a college guy. And he told me that he would still send me one now. And then he gave me a lesson on drawing with it. It only comes in black and white now, but they’ll make it soon in color…I felt so old and out of it with this young whiz guy right there who helped invent it.”

Self-Portrait (v2.0) is a work of net.art Brooke Singer, who has experienced a reworking of the form portrayed in the Western tradition, once used by the aristocracy to put in practice the health and the power of a single individual. In his work, instead Singer assembles the different data stores that describe it in many aspects (e-mail, a webcam, and his research on the web, its profile as a consumer, on his election data) overlap to create a snapshot Continuous uploading of herself fruita through the flows of data that concern it. A portrait post-electronic with striking realism and simplicity.
