Working Title

Working Title is the last effort of net.artist and DJ Cuechamp (aka Rick Silva), and consists of four minutes of care 'Ludwig Van'. It is in fact a sequence of opening credits of the film, arranged at a brisk pace of three frames each, accompanied by a remix of soundtracks that heightens the viewer's perception, stimulated to seize the citations. As Roland Barthes argued, films and frame are in the ratio of schedule. But if the prisoner Alex could not endure the bombardment of images, the viewer can interact with the video stream frame by frame and linger in the deconstruction and reconstruction of the text designed by Cuechamp. The sequence is predetermined, perhaps organized according to a logic editorial, primarily through a strict alphabetical order, but the artist is interested in the potential use of moving images through the online interface and the interaction between them and the host of the site. If the work is open to interpretation, in fact, it is even more networking, where the cue, the there, given by the instantaneous perception of a title, is enhanced by linking, mirror of our mental associations, and turns in the reflection on the meaning generated by the scratching video. Moreover collage, cut-up, sampling are the subject of attention of artists for more than a century, from the Dadaist movement (superfluous to note the similarity Cuechamp / Duchamp) to Pop Art, from the punk subculture electronic music. The same term plagiarism, came into vogue before the advent of the internet (think of experiments, now institutionalized, such as television Blob), testifies to the extent of the phenomenon is no longer an individual but a collective mania facilitated by the cut and paste of digital technologies . A plagiarist era of the internet is what Rick Silva, whose actions are compared to those of net.artist as Jodi or Superbad, but that feels closer to video artists such as Bill Viola and Bruce Connor, however, expressly declares the appropriation and the use of other people's material and invites the recipient to continue the work undertaken: a workin (g) Progress Title.
