Begins today and will continue until Sunday the HAL (Hackers At Large) 2001 , mega international hacker convention. The quadrennial event (after 'The Galactic Hacker Party' (1989), 'Hacking at the End of the Universe' (1993) and 'Hacking in Progress' (1997)) is organized at the Campsite University of Twente, the Netherlands. The opening speech will be borne by Emmanuel Goldstein, editor of '2600, the hacker's quarterly ', and then will include seminars, workshops, presentations and informal meetings on all current issues: security of SMS, biometrics, DeCSS, steganography, Smart Card, voice encryption, DDoS, video surveillance, security of cellular communications, and so on. Among the guests present John Gillmore, Andy Mueller-Maghun and Phil Zimmermann. It will also be a session in memory of Wau Holland by the Chaos Computer Club
